Either way, as soon as the Illyria settlement is taken, the faction will be destroyed as it's their only settlement on the map. In a few turns, a Macedonian army can be besieging the town, forcing the camped Illyria army to either come attempt to relieve the siege or push on and try to take a Macedonian city. The best way to deal with Illyria is to instead head to the left of the mountains, going along the coast, and ignoring the fort entirely. Their armies are split into two relatively similar size armies, one guarding the settlement and the other camped in the fort. The mountains and trees give them a perfect spot to ambush any Macedonian armies attempting to reach them. Even if they are not, they will have to assault the barbarian fort, which will be costly. You will become Alexander and lead the mighty army you built and conquer neighboring countries. The game is set in ancient times, in the era of Alexander the Great. Any Macedonian armies attempting to get through the forest will likely be ambushed. So let me introduce you to a game that can satisfy you, it’s ROME: Total War Alexander released by Feral Interactive. Illyria has their primary walled settlement but also a fort just the other side of the mountains and forest, where an army is camped. They're harass Alexander and his armies/settlements if kept unchecked, but with just one city they're not too much to handle. They are a city state, like Thrace, but are harder to reach and as such will likely be the second nation to be defeated, rather than the first. Unlike Thrace, the other nearby barbarian nation, Illyria has the added protection of a thick forest and mountains to protect them from Macedon, who is directly south to them. Illyria is a non-playable faction in the campaign and doesn't prove much of a threat to Alexander. They control just one settlement, north of Greece, on the campaign map.
